Dear experts, the temperature of hydrogen chloride coming out of the hydrochloric acid synthesis furnace is 40–50 degrees. Previously, F-RPP pipes were used; they have been in use for 5 years now and are severely worn out. I’m considering switching to CPVC pipes – I wonder if that’s possible. CPVC pipes can be used with high-temperature hydrochloric acid liquids, but I’m not sure whether they can resist corrosion from high-temperature hydrogen chloride gas
If it is gas produced by a hydrochloric acid furnace, CPVC works fine; that’s what we use. But there is another important factor to consider: is the gas pressure high? If the temperature is high, it is best to use steel-lined PTFE; we use steel-lined PTFE for hydrogen chloride gas at high temperatures and pressures.
What kind of high temperature can be considered when using a steel-lined PTFE material? I thought it would be temperatures of at least four or five hundred degrees or more.
For outdoor use, CPVC is not recommended as it is prone to photo-aging and cracking; wrapping a layer of glass wire mesh around CPVC can significantly enhance its resistance to aging
There is no problem using CPVC; as long as the installation is done properly, it will meet the operating conditions you mentioned

First, what comes out is hydrogen chloride gas, which can go to two places downstream: 1) other locations where hydrogen chloride is used, and 2) for the production of high-purity hydrochloric acid. If it is only to be sent to other downstream locations that use hydrogen chloride, and there are no special requirements, FRP can be used as the pipe material ; If used for the production of high-purity hydrochloric acid, it is recommended to use CPVC/FRP as the pipe material
