Automation achieved in hydrochloric acid filling at Lu’an Hengtong Chemical Industry. Recently, the hydrochloric acid filling process at the chlor-alkali plant of Lu’an Chemical Hengtong Chemical Industry Company was equipped with automated equipment, eliminating the need for manual filling and enabling safe, precise, and efficient filling. 　　Previously, the filling of hydrochloric acid was carried out entirely manually, which was time-consuming and labor-intensive, and posed safety risks as well as errors resulting from visual inspection. During filling, manual handling is required to insert the dip pipe into the tank opening; the operator has to climb onto the tank top multiple times to visually check the liquid level and determine the amount of fluid to be filled based on experience, which results in significant errors and a risk of falling. The automatically filling system that has been put into use this time features a function for quantitative filling, and is equipped with an emergency shut-off valve that allows the process to be stopped quickly in case of emergencies. In practice, once the vehicle arrives, the operator inspects it; the driver parks the vehicle and opens the tank lid, after which the operator presses the automatic positioning button, and the flexible hose descends precisely to fit into the tank opening. Subsequently, the operator sets the filling parameters and presses the start button to initiate automatic filling. When the filling volume reaches the preset value, the system stops automatically and activates nitrogen purging to remove any residual hydrochloric acid in the dip pipe, thereby preventing potential leaks and material waste.
