According to the workshop’s production requirements, methanol is used to dissolve sodium carbonate. In practice, large packs of soda ash (500 kilograms per pack) are added to the methanol tank; a stirrer is installed in the tank, and stirring takes place while the material is being added. Current safety hazards include the possibility of static electricity being generated due to friction between the material and plastic bags during the addition of sodium carbonate, which could lead to flash explosions. Additionally, a large amount of dust is produced at the site during this process. I would appreciate it if experts could provide suggestions on what methods or equipment should be used from the perspectives of safety and dust prevention. Thank you
To ensure safe addition, the following measures can be considered: 1. Use containers and equipment with good anti-static properties. Stainless steel containers with an anti-static coating can be used, and it is necessary to ensure that the containers are grounded to the processing equipment in order to reduce the likelihood of static electricity generation. 2. Improve ventilation. Good ventilation should be maintained during material addition, and equipment such as local exhaust fans or static dissipators should be used to reduce the accumulation of dust and static electricity. 3. Use explosion-proof equipment. During the addition of sodium carbonate, explosion-proof equipment such as explosion isolators and spark control systems should be installed to reduce the risk of fires and explosions. 4. Hire professional technicians. The addition of sodium carbonate requires the operation of professional technicians, and strict adherence to the operating procedures must be followed during this process. 5. Install protective equipment. During the operation, protective equipment such as gloves, masks, and goggles should be worn to prevent materials and dust from causing harm to the human body. The above measures should be implemented simultaneously to ensure the safe addition of sodium carbonate. .
