Dear experts and experienced technicians: There are two level gauges on a boiler at the site. One showed 50% when inspected, while the other indicated full water level; why is the level gauge on this boiler showing full water level (given that the discharge valve of this gauge is leaking internally)? The other shows around 50%. Under normal circumstances, it is kept at around 50%.
The level gauge indicates an error; in most cases, it is necessary to flush the boiler’s level gauge!
That makes sense, thank you! There was a previous explosion of the level gauge, so the level gauge hasn’t been flushed for a long time.
Under normal circumstances, there will be no explosion! It seems that your operations aren’t carried out in a proper manner; the fast speed of movement causes uneven heating!
The boiler level gauge exploded after being installed and in operation for some time. There was no one at the site, nor was anyone operating it. During normal production, a loud noise was suddenly heard, and steam along with water came out of the drum; it was later found that the level gauge had exploded.
Is it a glass plate or a glass tube? If the right model is chosen, the problem you mentioned won’t occur, as well as any installation issues! Was the reason not identified either?
Previously, two-color glass tubes were used, which tended to explode; later, glass plates were adopted. We suspect that the self-locking balls at the steam valve caused the issue. This results in a false full-level indication, when in fact the actual level is 50%.
That’s because you don’t rinse it... Impurities inside can easily cause the balls to get stuck!
The newly installed on-site level gauge should be put into use gradually after being cooled; you started using it too quickly. Heat the quartz tube slowly – usually, start by allowing a small amount of water to flow through it to warm it up, then gradually increase the flow of steam. The drain valve must remain open. If it still bursts under these conditions, then it’s likely a problem with the material used.
I’ve seen this happen before; it usually occurs after flushing the level gauge. It’s very likely that you opened the steam-side valve too quickly, causing the steel ball on the steam side to get stuck, or resulting in the pressure on the steam side being lower than that on the water side. This, in turn, leads to a full or high liquid level. Causes a false liquid level~
