Hello everyone. In the factory, 98% concentrated sulfuric acid needs to be diluted to 30% sulfuric acid. A 4-cubic-meter enamel reactor is being used, with cooling water circulated through its jacket. After adding 2,490 kilograms of water, 510 kilograms of 98% concentrated sulfuric acid should be added slowly using a metering pump. Is this approach acceptable? How long should the acid addition process take? Is a lot of heat generated?
Back in the day, when we produced sulfuric acid, we used three towers and one tank to produce 93% acid, and the dilution was carried out using enamel-lined reactors

It can be used. It is recommended to use a graphite sulfuric acid dilution cooler. Mixed dilution cooling is completed in one step.

It’s simple: do the calculations first, add the acid first, use a measuring container for water as well; install a stirrer in the reaction tank, or use a pump to circulate the acid, and then add water gradually. Monitor the rate of temperature rise and control the speed at which water is added
Sure, we also have a reaction vessel here; it’s cubic in shape, and the concentration is diluted to 50%

It’s not a big problem; choose a metering pump with a PVDF pump head, one that can handle over 300 liters per hour – the filling will be completed in 40 to 60 minutes. If you want a good mixing effect, add a small magnetic pump to create circulation.
Are you sure that when diluting sulfuric acid, you add the acid first and then the water? In the tank or vessel you use for dilution, where are the acid inlet and water inlet located? Find out the dilution procedures for concentrated sulfuric acid before giving advice.
