Today (the 11th), China’s independently developed T1200-grade ultra-high-strength carbon fiber will make its global debut. This breakthrough fills a gap in this field worldwide, marking a significant advancement for our country in the production of ultra-high strength carbon fibers. The T1200 grade ultra-high strength carbon fiber launched this time was independently developed by China National Building Materials Group. Notably, it is not a laboratory sample but an industrial product that already has the capability for mass production in quantities of hundreds of tons. This also makes our country the first in the world to achieve mass production of carbon fiber at the hundred-ton level at this scale. In simple terms, the diameter of T1200-grade carbon fiber is less than one-tenth that of a human hair, yet its tensile strength is 10 times that of ordinary steel, while its density is only one-fourth that of steel; it thus boasts remarkable lightness and toughness. Thanks to these excellent performance characteristics, it can be widely applied in strategic emerging industries such as aerospace, the low-altitude economy, and humanoid robots.
