Can equipment that uses an open flame to treat organic waste gases, such as regenerative thermal oxidizers RTO and direct combustion furnaces TO, be installed in explosion-proof areas? Explosion-proof equipment is primarily designed for electrical devices; for such equipment that utilizes an open flame, if all electrical devices within the gas treatment system are designed as explosion-proof devices, can they then be installed in the factory’s explosion-proof area?
This has been discussed before, in accordance with GB50160-2008
I’ve read the discussions, but I don’t see anyone arriving at a conclusion; everything is rather vague. Can devices with an open flame be installed in an explosion-proof area, provided that all the electrical components in such systems are designed to be explosion-proof?
GB50160 specifies clear spacing requirements; if it’s not possible to meet these requirements, a wall can be used as a separation method, and that’s exactly what we do.
If it is a fan used to supply combustion gas into the furnace, is it considered an open-flame device?
