On October 20, the 30% model of the FEED phase for the Phase 1 LNG project in Ruwuma, Mozambique (referred to as the Mozambique project) was approved by the owner, laying the foundation for striving to secure the EPC contract in the next phase. Since its launch on August 30, 2024, the Southwest Branch has made full use of its design strengths and core technical advantages, organizing professionals in fields such as process engineering, piping, and civil construction to carry out meticulous design work and work closely together in order to overcome challenges such as complex interfaces, stringent technical standards, and frequent adjustments to the overall layout plans and large-scale module designs. Through the efforts of all team members, tasks such as the piping layout for pipes smaller than 6 inches, REVIT forward design for the entire building, calculation and modeling of large-scale structural elements, research on equipment inspection, maintenance, and handling, as well as the layout of buried pipelines and cables, T-shaped walls, and fences were completed efficiently. The level of detail in the design far exceeded the requirements of the 30% stage, creating favorable conditions for the model review. At the review meeting, the Southwest Branch reported on the progress of the 30% model for the project, focusing on the design aspects of the interfaces handled by the company, and the attendees engaged in in-depth discussions. In response to the questions raised by the review committee, the project team provided detailed explanations and responses for each one, earning high recognition from the client and the consortium partners, and passing the 30% model review on the first attempt. Next, the Southwest Branch will continue to adhere to the customer-centric philosophy. Under the leadership of CPECC, it will strengthen communication and cooperation with the relevant parties in the consortium, advance all aspects of the project with high quality, and strive to turn this project into CPECC’s first large-scale modular LNG benchmark overseas. The Phase 1 LNG project in Ruvuma, Mozambique is located in the maritime area of northeastern Mozambique. It is an important part of Mozambique’s Project 4, and it represents a full-industry-chain project that integrates ultra-deep-sea natural gas exploration and development, LNG processing, production, and sales. The main contents of the project are: the FEED design and EPC package for an LNG plant with a capacity of 18 million tons per year, with a contract duration of 16 months. The first phase of the Luwuma LNG project was won through a bid submitted by a consortium consisting of CPECC, Sebun Company, and McDermott Company. Furthermore, the owner will also award the project to another consortium, with one winning bidder ultimately being selected to sign the EPC turnkey contract. CPECC’s main tasks at this stage include: the development of an overall construction plan, the design of administrative areas, certain processes, and custom-made equipment, as well as participation in the research on modular solutions for the entire plant. CPECC organized the West Africa Company and the Southwest Branch to carry out the task together. The Phase 1 LNG project in Ruwuma, Mozambique, is a world-class LNG project in which CPECC participates for the first time in a new capacity. It marks a historic breakthrough for China National Petroleum Corporation in the FEED phase of world-class LNG projects, representing an important step forward in the effort to optimize both the market structure and the business structure. At the same time, the Project in Mozambique’s Region 4 is an important project for CNPC in fulfilling its responsibilities as a central state-owned enterprise, as well as in implementing the Belt and Road Initiative and the dual-carbon strategy. As China National Petroleum Corporation’s most representative international EPC contractor for oil and gas projects, CPECC will make full use of CNPC’s advantages in integrating upstream and downstream operations.
