Total investment of 1.8 billion yuan! The new project of Hengli Petrochemical has officially commenced!

On September 22, Dalian held an event for the signing of major projects and the simultaneous commencement of construction projects for the third quarter. The annual production capacity of 450,000 tons of biodegradable new materials project of Hengli Petrochemical Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Hengli Petrochemical”), as one of the key projects, held a grand groundbreaking ceremony at the Hengli (Dalian Changxing Island) Industrial Park. The Hengli Petrochemical project for the annual production of 450,000 tons of biodegradable new materials involves an investment of 1.8 billion yuan. It is located within the Hengli (Dalian Changxing Island) Industrial Park. Utilizing independently developed processing technologies and formulas, and taking advantage of the raw material resources and supporting facilities available in the industrial park, the project focuses on the construction of two facilities: one for the production of 150,000 tons per year of PBS-based biodegradable plastics, and another for the production of 300,000 tons per year of PBAT biodegradable plastics. Currently, PBS and PBAT are recognized worldwide as the biodegradable materials with the best overall performance; they are also the most widely used types of biodegradable plastics. In natural soil environments, they can be degraded into compounds such as carbon dioxide and water through the action of microorganisms. They are environment-friendly polyester materials that are extensively used in fields such as food packaging, tableware, medical applications, agricultural films, injection molding, and foam materials. As early as the end of last year, Hengli’s project for producing 33,000 tons per year of PBS-based biodegradable polyester materials was successfully launched in just one attempt, marking Hengli’s official entry into the field of biodegradable polyester materials. The project that is set to begin construction now is scheduled to be completed and put into operation by 2022. By then, it will become the largest and most productive base for biodegradable new materials in China. It holds great significance for extending, strengthening, and improving the industrial chains in Dalian and the entire Liaoning region. To a certain extent, it will help address the issue in Liaoning where there is an abundance of raw materials but a shortage in processing capabilities, as well as a surplus of raw materials yet a lack of value-added processes, thereby promoting the development of industries based on raw materials toward higher levels of the industrial and value chains.
