From 5:00 to 11:00 on September 27, 2021, after 6 hours of continuous lifting operations, the extrusion granulation degassing chamber for Guangdong Petrochemical’s 500,000 tons per year polypropylene project was successfully installed in one go, in accordance with the planned schedule. This also marks the timely and high-standard completion of the hoisting work for all major equipment in this project. It is reported that this degassing chamber is 52.6 meters long, with a maximum diameter of 10.2 meters; its total weight is 250.75 tons, and its current height is 85.9 meters. Once its framework has been fully installed and the top portion completed, its height will reach 103.7 meters, making it the tallest framework in the Guangdong Petrochemical Industrial Zone. This lifting operation faced practical challenges such as large component sizes, high positioning requirements, and limited space at the site. To complete the lifting work to high standards and quality, the polypropylene project organized a 100-day intensive effort campaign, as well as activities such as party member task forces and responsibility zones, which greatly boosted the enthusiasm of the staff involved. The project team worked together from top to bottom to combat the pandemic, deal with the harsh heat, ensure safety, maintain quality, and meet deadlines. During the actual lifting process, a 2000-ton crawler crane was used for the main lifting operation, while a 320-ton crawler crane was used to assist. The construction plan featured a short construction period, minimal impact on surrounding operations, and reduced labor requirements. After 6 hours of lifting work, the degassing tank was successfully lifted into place in one go, as planned, laying a solid foundation for subsequent construction tasks.
