On September 22, the 1,000-ton/year POE (polyolefin elastomer) pilot plant was successfully commissioned at Maoming Petrochemical, with the entire production process established smoothly, qualified products produced, and continuous stable operation achieved. The device utilizes the olefin solution polymerization technology independently developed by Sinopec. The successful commissioning of this facility marks Sinopec as the first company in China to possess a set of related technical patents with independent intellectual property rights, filling a gap in the domestic market and laying a solid foundation for the smooth operation of Sinopec’s 50,000 tons per year POE industrial production facility under construction. POE is widely used in areas such as material toughening and modification, foaming, and building materials; it is a key core material for the production of next-generation photovoltaic films. Over the years, the Technology Department of the group company, in collaboration with various departments, has made full use of the advantages of working as a large team. It organized the Beijing Research Institute of Chemical Technology to carry out laboratory research, and subsequently brought in companies such as the Engineering Construction Company, Maoming Petrochemical, Qingdao Safety Engineering Research Institute, and East China University of Science and Technology to develop engineering technologies.
