1. Water samples should be analyzed as soon as possible after collection; if they contain large suspended particles or oils that interfere with the analysis, these should be removed by filtration or extraction. 2. The beaker containing the solution to be tested should be rinsed 3 times with the same solution in order to avoid ion contamination. 3. The electrode plug and socket must be kept completely dry to avoid unnecessary measurement errors. 4. When the instrument leaves the factory, the electrodes supplied come with their electrode constants already determined. To ensure measurement accuracy, these constants should be calibrated regularly. 5. New (or those that have not been used for a long time) platinum black electrodes should first be soaked in ethanol and then washed with distilled water before they can be used. 6. The electrode tip is made of thin glass and is prone to breaking; avoid collision with hard objects. 7. When using a platinum black electrode, it can be immersed in distilled water before and after use to prevent the inerting of the platinum black. If the platinum black electrode is found to be malfunctioning, it can be immersed in 10% nitric acid or hydrochloric acid for 2 minutes, then rinsed with distilled water before taking measurements. If the situation does not improve, the electrode needs to be replaced.
