During the MTBE hydrogenation reaction, the C4 feedstock is preheated before being mixed with hydrogen and fed into the reactor; whereas in the etherification reaction, it is first mixed with methanol and then preheated before entering the etherification reactor. Why isn’t hydrogen heated? Is it because it’s a gas? What is the reason?
You didn’t describe it clearly; it seems to be several different processing stages – hydrogenation, dehydrogenation, and etherification reactions – and the temperature control requirements for each reaction are different. Moreover, heating with hydrogen is very dangerous as it can easily explode
