Reasons for the high level of propylene oxide esters

Dear experts, I have a question regarding the high level of epoxide esters. We use the HPPO method in our propylene oxide production facility, and we are currently facing the problem of high levels of epoxide esters in the product; we’re unable to determine the exact cause. The level can exceed 400 ppm, and it’s really hard to figure out what’s causing this. Various analyses also revealed no other impurities in the product, but its acid value was high. I wonder if anyone has any good ideas?
Possible reasons for a high content of propylene oxide esters include: 1. Excess levels of impurities in the raw materials, such as acids present in propylene that have not been completely removed. 2. Improper control of reaction conditions, such as incorrect reaction temperature, pressure, or catalyst usage, leads to an increase in side reactions. 3. Inadequate control of moisture during the reaction process leads to the formation of more acidic substances. 4. The distillation and separation processes during product purification are not effective. It is recommended to start with aspects such as raw material inspection, optimization of reaction conditions, and improvement of product purification processes in order to identify issues and make adjustments. .
