Nearly 80 billion yuan! Major coal chemical projects see changes to their environmental impact assessments; the Ministry of Ecology and Environment plans to conduct reviews!

On April 14, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment issued a public notice stating that it intends to review the revised environmental impact assessment document for the Shenhua Yulin Circular Economy Coal Comprehensive Utilization Project operated by China Shenhua Coal-to-Oil Chemical Co., Ltd. 　　The project is located in the Qingshui Industrial Park of Yushen Industrial Zone in Yulin City, Shaanxi Province. The total investment amount is 79.836 billion yuan, of which 6.228 billion yuan is allocated to environmental protection measures, accounting for 7.8% of the total investment. 　　In 2014, the environmental impact assessment report for China Shenhua Dow Yulin Circular Economy Coal Comprehensive Utilization Project was approved; the project is implemented in phases, with the first phase going into operation for trial runs in 2020. In subsequent stages, changes will be made to the process: using coal as a raw material, through processes such as direct coal liquefaction, coal gasification, methanol-to-olefins conversion, and naphtha-methanol coupled cracking, coal-based specialty fuels and coal-based biodegradable materials will be produced.
