On May 8, the 170,000 tons per year catalytic dry gas C2 recovery project at Daqing Petrochemical in China was successfully completed, entering the production preparation phase 22 days ahead of schedule. The catalytic dry gas C2 recovery project is a key initiative undertaken by Daqing Petrochemical to implement the important guidance principle of \"using oil resources to develop chemical products,\" and to promote the transformation of Daqing into a resource-based city as well as the high-quality development of the enterprise. The unit employs PSA pressure swing adsorption technology to recover the C2 components from the dry gas produced by the two catalytic cracking units in the refining area; these components are then sent to units E2 and E3 in the chemical processing area as a supplementary raw material. The waste gas resulting from the adsorption process is fed into the fuel gas network for use as fuel. Once the project is put into operation, it will be able to produce 71,000 tons of ethylene-rich gas per year, thereby increasing the yield of ethylene products and reducing the energy consumption of the facility – all of which will further enhance the company’s profitability and the competitiveness of its products. The project officially commenced construction in May 2024. Faced with challenges such as tight schedules and a shortage of personnel, participating companies including China National Petroleum Corporation East China Design Institute Co., Ltd., China National Petroleum Corporation Global Project Management (Beijing) Co., Ltd., and Jilin Jihua Huaqiang Construction Co., Ltd. aimed to create **high-quality projects, and organized their work meticulously and carried out construction in a scientific manner in accordance with the set deadlines. Implement a verification system for critical processes, establish a hierarchical control and item-by-item inspection mechanism, and strictly adhere to design standards and construction specifications. Strengthen safety education for all employees, conduct risk assessments for operations, and implement comprehensive control throughout the construction process. Carry out safety and quality supervision tasks, and properly inspect and verify key inspection points to ensure that construction remains under control at all times.
