How do various refrigeration compressors function in ethylene plants?

In ethylene plants, propylene is used for cooling, along with ethylene cooling compressors; sometimes binary cooling and tertiary cooling are also employed. How do they work together with the heat exchangers used in the device? Are there any relevant materials I can use to learn* about it? Thank you all.
