According to China Petroleum News (Reporter Du Jia, Correspondent Guo Dukai), on December 14th it was learned that Sulige Gas Field, China’s largest integrated gas field on land, successfully exceeded a natural gas production volume of 30 billion cubic meters in 2025, achieving this target for four consecutive years. The Surihe gas field is a typical low-pressure, low-permeability, and low-abundance gas reservoir, which has been aptly described as \"a broken porcelain plate that has even been stepped on several times.\" In the early stages of development, the gas field faced the severe challenge of having gas but being unable to develop it into a productive field, with low and unstable yields. To overcome this world-class challenge, Changqing Oilfield has continued to deepen its geological understanding, developed a new theory for hydrocarbon formation based on \"wide-ranging hydrocarbon generation and widespread fluid injection,\" and created 12 core development technologies tailored for tight gas. Breakthroughs in key technologies such as efficient and rapid drilling of horizontal wells and volume fracturing have been akin to precisely creating fractures in a grindstone; they have transformed “inactive” reservoirs into “active” ones, and aggregated small reservoirs into larger ones, thereby effectively unlocking their potential. What is more profound is the transformation in management models. Since 2022, the Surihe Gas Field has implemented a \"large-project system\" approach to management, carrying out a systematic restructuring of its production capacity development framework. By integrating internal and external resources, the previously scattered temporary project teams have been consolidated to create a new framework characterized by \"integrated operations, large-scale teamwork, and efficient management.\" By relying on the standardized production model of \"differentiated deployment, platform-based drilling, factory-style gas testing, and clustered commissioning,\" the gas field has achieved \"coordinated resource utilization, integrated technologies, synchronized management, and doubled efficiency.\" This approach significantly shortens the decision-making process and accelerates response times, thereby creating a strong collaborative force for tackling challenges. Meanwhile, the gas field adheres to driving high-quality development through technological innovation. Aiming to \"increase the degree of utilization of reserves, fully tap potential for improved efficiency, and raise the ultimate recovery rate per well,\" it has developed 19 core innovative technologies across 4 areas during capacity expansion, thereby effectively enhancing the efficient utilization of multi-layer gas reservoirs. By facilitating seamless integration of research and development with production on-site, as well as by addressing complex challenges through team collaboration, the gas field has achieved long-term stable production in the face of continuous challenges, making significant contributions to ensuring a steady supply of natural gas in China.
