Statoil plans to sell offshore oilfield interests in Angola

Sinochem News Recently, Norway* * The oil company announced that it is considering selling some of its offshore oil field interests in Angola, while refocusing resources on core areas with higher growth potential such as Brazil and the U.S. Gulf of Mexico. Statoil has hired financial advisers to help find potential buyers and plans to retain a small stake in one of the fields after the deal. Relevant negotiations are still ongoing. 　　It is reported that this move is the latest step in Statoil’s continuous optimization of its international investment portfolio in recent years. Statoil has agreed to withdraw from Azerbaijan and Nigeria in 2024, and recently divested Argentinian onshore oil fields. Philip Mathieu, the company's vice president of international exploration and production, said the goal is to increase international production from about 700,000 barrels per day in 2025 to 900,000 barrels per day by 2030, with growth mainly coming from Brazil, the United Kingdom and the United States. 　　Statoil currently participates in three offshore production blocks on the Angolan continental shelf, with equity production in 2024 of approximately 110,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day. A company spokesperson emphasized that Angola remains a core market and the company is optimistic about its long-term development.
