Dear colleagues, our company has a centrifugal compressor with two vibration measurement points at the coupling end. After the first shutdown and subsequent restart, the vibration levels at these two points changed; the X and Y measurement points showed shifts, with one of the vibration points continuing to increase in value. However, all other operating parameters of the unit remained unchanged. A portable vibration meter was also used to measure the vibration velocity of the casing, which was 1.0 mm/s. In this situation, please discuss what possible causes there might be; could it be a problem with the instrument probe? ? Or interference?

What is the medium used in this compressor? Are there any corrosive or abrasive substances such as coke dust? Your issue isn’t a mechanical one; you can check the probe as well as whether there is any interference from the signal source! Take a look at the probe holder
Check how the other parameters change, and consider as a whole whether it is due to the local device or the instrument.
It is possible to contact the instrumentation staff to verify the accuracy of the probe data. If the probe measurements are accurate and the vibration levels are within the specified limits, there is no need for excessive concern. Large machinery that is shut down for extended periods should be inspected as required; remaining in one position for a long time can lead to bending, and changes in stress conditions can also affect vibration levels.
