Looking for recommendations for reduction motors

There is a set of natural gas compressors that previously used V-belts for drive; however, new regulations now require direct coupling. The compressor operates at 450 RPM. Previously, motors of the YB132M1-6 type with a power of 4 KW were used, but now direct coupling is required. Is it better to use a 12-stage motor or a reduction motor?
Personally, I think it’s better to use a motor; gearboxes have a high failure rate, high maintenance costs, and don’t save space.
