I ordered a mixer, and the manufacturer suggested a magnetic seal. What exactly is a magnetic seal? What is the difference between it and a mechanical seal? And what are the advantages and disadvantages of each?
Magnetic sealing undoubtedly offers higher safety performance, but its drawback is that it is difficult to determine its actual operating condition. What to do about demagnetization? Magnetic sealing uses magnetic machinery, and its price is much higher than that of mechanical types. The mechanism is traditional: the motor drives the impeller or blades together with the bearings. In a magnetic drive system, there are two completely separate sleeves; the outer sleeve rotates, and this rotation drives the inner sleeve through magnetism, with no direct diameter contact between them. The advantage of magnetic drives is that they use static sealing instead of dynamic sealing, resulting in better sealing performance and preventing air leakage due to wear. It’s much more expensive
Magnetic seals can operate at high pressures, with values of 10 to 20 MPa or more being possible
