The chillers in our factory are Carrier air-conditioning units; in weather with large temperature fluctuations, they often trigger alarms, which leads to a drop in oil pressure and prevents the units from starting. I would like to ask the teachers here whether there are any protective measures in place that allow for automatic adjustment during periods of significant temperature changes, in order to protect the chiller units and prevent failures.
What is this alarm for? From what I understand, you’re saying that changes in temperature cause changes in oil pressure? Is it the decrease in ice water temperature that causes the viscosity of the lubricant to increase? Problems with the temperature control valve?
The oil pressure of compressor A1 is low; it is likely due to a decrease in the cooling water temperature, which causes the viscosity of the lubricating oil to increase.
Under normal circumstances, such a problem should not occur; the temperature control valve regulates the flow of hot and cold oil based on the oil temperature. If the temperature of the ice water drops, the amount of cold oil decreases, and the oil pressure should increase only slightly, provided it remains within normal ranges. Have you paid attention to the oil temperature when the oil pressure is low? If the oil temperature also drops significantly, it is likely necessary to check the temperature control valve to determine whether there is a PID issue or a problem with the temperature control setpoint.
