For single-stage centrifugal pumps, in routine inspections, apart from making judgments based on experience, how can portable vibration meters be used to identify issues with the equipment? (Primarily due to excessive vibration, such as imbalance, misalignment, damaged bearings, etc.)
Most of the problems during routine inspections are seal leaks, bearing damage, and leaks in the flexible connections. There don’t seem to be any problems with the others. It is also possible that the foundation bolts are loose.
Large horizontal vibration (with smaller values in the axial and vertical directions) is most likely due to rotor imbalance; an increase in axial vibration indicates a alignment issue, while high-frequency vibration modes indicate problems with the bearings
The allowable vibration levels for equipment vary depending on the power of the equipment’s motor; these values can be found online, allowing you to determine roughly whether the vibration is within acceptable limits. Regarding the issue of bearing vibration, in addition to an increased bearing clearance, another possible cause is an increased fit clearance between the bearing housing and the bearing. This needs attention.
You mean the outer ring of the bearing is moving, right? :P
It mainly uses the velocity sensor in the vibration meter to measure the bearing in horizontal and vertical directions; there is a standard range for vibrations! It is through regular inspections that one can determine whether other machine seals are leaking and whether the oil level is normal!
