I would like to ask what the function of a breather in a pump or gearbox is generally, whether there is a slight positive pressure or a slight negative pressure inside the bearing chamber, and what the principle behind this is Thank you
It has been seen on the top of the crankcase of reciprocating compressors; the exact principle isn’t very clear. I need to find out
A respirator is used for exhaust; when the equipment is in operation, the oil temperature is high, and if the oil mist cannot escape, it can cause pressure to build up inside the bearing housing. The oil may then leak out through the shaft seals on both sides. There is also a filter inside that serves to separate oil from gas.
Well, the gearbox should be like this. This is the pump bearing chamber; there is oil returning at the bottom. It appears to be under negative pressure on site, and I’m not sure about the reason for this
