Turbine air seals are divided into shaft-end air seals, which are also known as shaft seals, partition air seals, and flow-through section air seals. My question is: do these two types of air seals, namely the partition air seals and the flow-through section air seals, originate from the same pipeline as the shaft seals?
The end seal is sealed by external steam, while the partition seal is self-sealing and does not require external steam.
The shaft-end steam seal requires external steam, which is pumped to a negative-pressure condenser via a small jet pump and then condensed into water. The partition steam seals and the flow-through section steam seals are components within the equipment, serving to prevent pressure from leaking inside the turbine. Actually, it follows the same principle as the sealing of the partitions inside the compressor.
The steam seal in the flow-through section doesn’t need external steam, right? It should only have a drain structure.
The shaft end seal connects to the external sealing gas and the shaft seal cooler; an internal seal is not required, as this ensures a proper clearance
