A check valve is installed at the outlet of the centrifugal compressor; then, when the air intake flow decreases and surge occurs, will the gas in the pipeline flow back into the compressor?
There is generally no backflow when the compressor is operating
The function of a check valve is to prevent gas from flowing back in the opposite direction; during surging, the check valve also fluctuates as the flow rate changes.
Generally, this does not happen. The check valves in centrifugal air compressors are installed at the rear of the blowdown anti-surge valve; once surge occurs in the unit, the blowdown valve opens immediately, and air flows out directly through that valve, without passing through the check valve
