For wastewater treatment systems where the material contains sediment and impurities, and these impurities are corrosive, what type of pump is suitable? What type of mechanical seal is preferable?:
Will a diaphragm pump work? Fluorinated lining, open impeller, centrifugal pump, double-end mechanical seal?
An optional inner lining made of ultra-high molecular weight material, which is resistant to corrosion and wear. The sealing type can be chosen based on budget: K-type seal (cheap, short lifespan), double-end mechanical seal, with circulating water for flushing
For sewage self-priming pumps that need to be corrosion-resistant, the pump body, impeller, and pump shaft must all be made of material rated at 316L or higher, with a single-sided seal.
Diaphragm pumps probably won’t work; we used rubber-lined pumps before, and now the workshop has replaced one of them with a magnetic pump. I’m not sure how it will perform
This is a good idea. At present, it’s the machine seals that fail quite frequently; rubber-lined pumps are being used, and we’re thinking of changing the type of seal in order to reduce costs.
Magnetic pumps cannot transport sediment and impurities
Upgrading or downgrading materials is a common issue. The static ring material is filled polytetrafluoroethylene, while the dynamic ring material is stainless steel, with its cone surface coated in tungsten carbide.
