I have been running two centrifugal compressors with a capacity of 7000m3 per hour. Now due to production reduction, I need to reduce the flow rate of the compressor to about 5500m3. Will this reduction have any impact on the compressor and which parts will be affected?

Uneconomical, the empty valve needs to be opened, the flow rate is too low, the compressor cannot operate stably, and the electricity bill is not reduced as much as expected.

If the flow rate is reduced, the outlet pressure, that is, the pressure of the rear system, is also reduced, which has no impact on the compressor. If the outlet pressure does not change and the inlet air volume is simply reduced, anti-surge control must be used, and the efficiency of the compressor may be reduced.

Take a good look at how the anti-surge system of the compressor is designed to ensure that the compressor does not surge.
There will be no impact. Just reduce the power of the compressor. There will always be an adjustment range.
You can determine this by looking at the performance curve chart and data sheet of your centrifuge. If the flow rate is reduced but the speed remains unchanged, the outlet pressure of the compressor will increase. If the process requires, the outlet pressure can also be adjusted so that the pressure does not change with the flow rate of the random group. Generally speaking, as long as it is not close to the anti-surge area, it will have no impact on the unit. The overall energy consumption of the unit will decrease and the steam consumption will decrease. But if the flow rate is reduced to less than the anti-surge flow rate, the anti-surge valve will open and part of the flow rate will be lost.
Your reduced flow rate is only transported downstream. At this time, opening the anti-surge valve and increasing the flow rate through the compressor can still ensure the outlet pressure. It is just uneconomical and should have no impact on the unit itself. Please give me some advice.
The reduction in suction volume will cause the anti-surge valves in each section to open, causing vibrations in the equipment and pipelines. This requires attention to the vibration and temperature changes of the unit bearings.
