The methanol loading pumps in our plant – 3 of them – all exhibit high levels of vibration, with the highest values reaching over 11 mm/s. Numerous repairs have been carried out, including the replacement of coupling washers and re-centering the pumps, but this has not resolved the problem fundamentally. I suspect that the loose foundation is to blame, as it prevents proper fitting with the base. I’m seeking advice from colleagues who may have encountered similar issues – how can this be solved? It’s too troublesome to redo the basics after all
Check whether the loading flow rate deviates significantly from the rated flow rate The gasoline loading pump at our facility is used for both trains and trucks; the volume of liquid loaded onto trucks is much smaller than that loaded onto trains, and vibration is also more severe in this case. Later, an additional return line was added, which solved the problem.
Has the pipeline stress been checked? The weight of the foundation should be 3 to 5 times or more that of the equipment; lines drawn at 30 degrees from the centerline of the pump shaft toward both sides should extend within the foundation

Was the shaft checked? Is it curved? Is the axial play large? Check whether the impeller is worn and adjust its dynamic balance. It seems to be a common issue with all three units. As mentioned above, there might be stress in the pipes; are there pipe supports? If the base screws can be tightened firmly, then there should be no problem, right? Measure the axial level with a pump
Is the shaft runout high? Are the bearings worn?
If the selection parameters are incorrect, it cannot be fixed; instead, the pump can be replaced with a suitable model.
