There are two ways to install conventional water-jet vacuum pumps. One is the common water-jet unit, which is installed horizontally; the other is in a vertical configuration. Schematics of these two installation methods are shown below. In the vertical setup, the water flow enters from above and exits from below. If the flow direction is reversed, with the ejector installed directly at the pump outlet, can vacuum pumping still be achieved? It is not clear whether this installation method affects the ultimate vacuum level or the pumping capacity
This approach is not feasible, as the downward flow and upward exit will cause severe surging due to irregular two-phase flow, damaging the equipment and pipes.
There is no impact; the air extraction volume is only related to the water pump, nozzle, Venturi tube, etc
