What should the standby nitrogen reciprocating compressor be in? What is the reason for this? 1. Backup unit inlet and outlet valves. Usually, we close the inlet and outlet valves to maintain pressure inside the unit. But it was found that the body couldn’t maintain pressure. Can the inlet and outlet valves be left open all the time? Could it have an impact on the valve or other components of the engine? 2. Standby unloader. Is it better for the standby unloader to be at 0% load or 100% load? It is usually specified to start at 0% load and then increase the load. There is a theory that at 100% load, the unloader spring is not subjected to stress, thereby protecting the unloader.

Compressors are not used for maintaining pressure; it is impossible for the packing not to leak. The packing itself is protected by an oil film and nitrogen gas, and the leaked gas is directed to the flare for recovery

To start the standby unit, 0 pressure and 0 load are required (usually); after the standby unit is shut down, pressure relief and nitrogen purging for protection are necessary, with the inlet and outlet main valves closed and the return valve open. It does not matter what state the compressor’s top vent valve is in – setting it to 0% is sufficient when starting the standby unit.
