One of our company’s Roots blowers exhibited high vibration at the drive end; even after maintenance, the vibration levels remained above the acceptable threshold, reaching around 10.0 mm/s under no-load conditions. It was later found that the issue lay with the base. The base foot bolts are not loose, and the vibration at the foot bolts is around 1.0 mm/s, which is within the normal range. How should it be handled? Thank you!
The base is adjusted using shims to ensure good contact with the foundation, thereby eliminating deformation of the steel base.
Are the footings on this side of the fan loose? Check if the foundation is loose, just like checking for loose bolts on a motor
The foundation feet are not loose, but the base is deformed.
Regarding the deformation of the machine base you mentioned, it’s necessary to find out the cause of that deformation; this is not a problem that should occur. Unless there is welding failure or installation issues. If it is a base with a soft cushion, it is better to have a rigid connection. I’m not sure what type of fan you have; it would be best to upload a video so we can see it and make an informed decision, rather than having to guess.
The fan exhibited high vibration after maintenance, and the cause could not be identified. When the fan was installed on a different base, it operated normally, so it was determined that the base was the problem.
Check the installed secondary grouting and the levelness of the base. When installing the machine, place it naturally, check whether the flat surfaces of all parts are in proper contact, and then level and secure them as necessary.
It’s very likely that the four corners of the device are not in the same plane.
I’ve been using this fan for eight years, and it worked fine all that time.
