There is a sulfuric acid submersible pump in the workshop, with a power rating of 7.5 Kw. The outlet valve cannot be opened wide enough; once it is opened too much, an overcurrent error is detected and the machine shuts down. What’s the reason for this? I hope the expert can answer this!
It’s likely that the head pressure was set too high and the motor was chosen to be too small. When the valve is open, check whether the flow rate meets your requirements. If it does, you can use it as is; if not, it is recommended to replace the motor.
If the pump is rotating properly, it might be due to an incorrect selection – sulfuric acid has a high specific gravity
Power is calculated based on flow rate, head, the density of sulfuric acid, and efficiency; the specific formulas are available online. Compare it with the motor power again. Just find out if the motor is too small.
Did it appear suddenly, or was it when the new pump was just put into use?
