The shaft end of the feed gas compressor is equipped with tilting bearing shells; one of the screws came loose, causing the two bearing shells to come into contact with each other. Additionally, the temperature is high during operation – what effects will this have on the compressor?
It’s acceptable if the stress is uneven without any damage occurring; one issue isn’t a big problem, but if another one arises, it becomes troublesome. Unrestricted radial deformation occurs when there is uneven stress. It will be a gruesome scene of mechanical damage.
Can you tell that two pieces of metal are touching just by not turning it on? Amazing! There will be fewer bearings, and the shafts may be damaged
Did a tile fall off? Then it can’t run, just because the temperature is a bit high? Is there no problem with vibration? It seems unlikely; it needs to be shut down immediately for maintenance
The advantage of tilting bearings is that, when subjected to uneven loads, each bearing element can adjust itself, thereby preventing bearing failures in the equipment. If one bearing element is lost, it can no longer adjust itself, which will have an impact on temperature and vibration levels
