Hello, everyone. I have a question regarding leakage of lubricant from the oil sight glass of my cycloidal reducer. 1. After filling the reducer with oil at home, the liquid level in the sight glass was 3 CM. As it started operating, the oil level in the sight glass continued to rise until it spilled out from the top (the height of the oil sight glass is about 10 CM); the area around it became very dirty. 2. I’m not sure what the normal range for the oil level is in a cycloidal reducer, so it’s likely that we added too much oil. Yet I can’t understand why the level keeps rising; at the same time, I’m worried that too little oil might affect the lifespan of the reducer. Could experts tell me how many liters of lubricant should be used? What causes the increase in the oil level in its sight glass? Thank you so much!

Hello, here’s the situation: when the reducer stops, we fill the right-side mirror to one-third of the height of the vertical acrylic tube. We believe there shouldn’t be any extra added. However, once the reducer started running, after about 10 minutes, the oil level in the vertical acrylic tube kept rising until it overflowed from the top. We poured more oil until it reached the lowest point of the vertical acrylic tube on the right side (with about 2–3 mm exposed). At that point, the level of the reducer oil rose again, and oil started to spill out
For L-type level gauges, could it be the rotating reducer that causes the oil vapor pressure generated by the lubricating oil to push the oil upward? Does the level gauge have ventilation holes?
There should be ventilation holes at the top! After operation, the internal temperature rises; poor ventilation can cause the oil level in the oil gauge to increase, leading to oil leakage.
Some domestic companies don’t understand how machines work and handle oil carelessly; based on preliminary assessments, it’s the same as in the two previous cases – there are no exhaust vents. When the equipment operates, the oil temperature rises and internal pressure increases, causing oil to leak out from various sealing points!
