Should the studs for ASME B16.5 flange connections use coarse thread or unified thread? Where can this be found? Is there anyone who can answer this? Thank you. I searched for 16.5 but found no relevant description.
Thank you. What this table means is that for alloy steel studs with flanges, coarse thread is used for those under 1 inch in size. Should an 8-tooth pitch be used for over 1 inch?
I don’t understand this table. If flanges use double-ended studs, carbon steel shall use studs in accordance with ASME B18.2.1 standards, and alloy steel shall also use studs per ASME B18.2.1. There is no difference between UNC and UN. If bolts are used, those smaller than 3/4 inch should use heavy hex heads, with no distinction between UNC and UN. If bolts are used, those larger than 3/4 inch should use heavy-duty hex heads, with no distinction between UNC and UN. Heavy-duty hex heads can be used for all nuts. What does external thread mean? Is it a fully threaded stud? I really can’t understand what it means.
It has been confirmed; such a regulation does exist, and it is also specified in the national standards. It is specified in Chapter 3 of 20613. M33 and thinner studs use coarse threads, while thicker ones use fine threads
