Why is the clearance at the piston top dead center in a reciprocating compressor 3 mm on the crankshaft side and 25 mm on the cylinder head side? Is such a clearance appropriate?
The clearance on the cylinder head side can be a bit larger than that on the crankshaft side, but this difference is a bit excessive – the total clearance is 28 mm, with around 15 mm on the head side and about 13 mm on the crankshaft side, in my opinion
It is recommended that the clearance on the cylinder head side be 10% greater than that on the crankshaft side, taking into account the thermal expansion coefficient of the piston rod under operating conditions. Personal opinion.
The gap provided by the manufacturer is just like this; we’re also puzzled by it
It is advisable to adjust so that the cylinder head side is slightly larger than the crankshaft side
