Depending on the degree of damage to the conveyor belt, the following repair methods can be used for repairs when there is no penetration damage. 1.1 The glue bonding method is suitable for situations where the protective layer of the tape is damaged, the affected area is small, and the damage to the core layer of the tape is mild. The specific steps are as follows: 1) Carefully examine the extent of damage to the conveyor belt to determine the shape and size of the repair area; 2) Use a sharp knife to cut through and remove the covering layer over the designated repair area; 3) Grind the surfaces that need to be bonded using a grinding wheel or wooden file to give them a certain degree of roughness; 4) Apply the prepared adhesive evenly to the ground areas of the conveyor belt using a brush, then let it dry for about 20 minutes; 5) Cut the covering layer into the shape of the repair area, place it in position, and then tap it evenly with a hammer until it bonds firmly. Another method is to use polyurethane repair materials; these materials consist of two components, A and B, and are 100% solid, thus containing no volatile organic compounds. It cures quickly – it becomes non-sticky in just 5 minutes at 21°C. This material is applied using a quick-setting glue gun. The steps for repair are as follows: 1) Carefully examine the extent of damage to the conveyor belt to determine the shape and size of the repair area; 2) Use a sharp knife to cut through and remove the covering layer over the designated repair area; 3) In most cases, an electric grinder (with sandpaper made of silicon oxide or aluminum oxide particles) is used to roughen the surface of the substrate, giving it a certain level of roughness; 4) Before starting the repair work, ensure that the moist surface of the substrate is completely dry, and clean it to remove any chemical residues as well as previous signs of repairs. Use a dry cloth together with a cleaner or an appropriate cleaning agent to remove any oil or grease attached to the surface of the substrate. Then, apply the adhesive evenly to the polished areas of the conveyor belt using a brush. 5) Use a fast-setting repair gun to apply the repair material to the areas that need fixing; the area covered by the repair material should be larger than the actual area that requires repair.
