A new ethylene diaphragm compressor has been installed, with two valves on it: a pressure regulating valve and a relief valve. What is the function of each? How to adjust it?
The pressure regulating valve and unloading valve on diaphragm compressors have different functions and adjustment methods. 1. Pressure regulating valve (also known as overload valve): The pressure regulating valve is primarily used to control the operating pressure of diaphragm compressors. When the outlet pressure of the compressor exceeds the set value, the pressure regulating valve opens to release some of the gas, thereby reducing the pressure. A pressure regulating valve is usually installed on the exhaust pipeline of the compressor; by adjusting the pressure setting on this valve, it is possible to control the maximum operating pressure of the compressor. 2. Unloading valve: The function of the unloading valve is to separate the compressor’s exhaust pipeline from its intake pipeline when the compressor does not need to be operating. This prevents the compressor from running under no-load conditions, reduces energy consumption, and protects the compressor. The unloading valve is generally installed on the intake pipeline of the compressor, and the start and stop of the compressor can be controlled via the switch on the control valve. Adjustment method: 1. Adjustment of the pressure regulator: First, it is necessary to know the maximum operating pressure requirement of the compressor, and make adjustments accordingly based on actual needs. Typically, a pressure adjustment knob is available on the pressure regulating valve; by rotating this knob, the opening pressure value of the valve can be changed. According to the operating requirements of the compressor, gradually adjust the knob to test the outlet pressure of the compressor, and make fine adjustments as needed until the desired operating pressure is achieved. 2. Adjustment of the unload valve: Generally, the unload valve has a manual switch used to control the start and stop of the compressor. When the unloading valve is opened, the compressor stops running; when the unloading valve is closed, the compressor starts operating. Under normal operation, it is generally not necessary to adjust the unloading valve. Before making any adjustments, please make sure you have read the compressor’s operation manual in detail and followed the instructions precisely to ensure the safe and proper operation of the compressor. .
It is not recommended to adjust the pressure regulating valve lightly; it is necessary to describe the symptoms first, and then determine based on those symptoms whether an adjustment of the pressure regulating valve is required. Easy adjustment can cause the diaphragm to break down more rapidly.
