The cycle gas compressor for the polypropylene unit in China National Petroleum Corporation’s Tarim 1.2 million tons/year Phase II ethylene project was successfully tested on August 13. This date marked an important milestone in the construction of this project: the cycle gas compressor, supplied by Shinko Wuxi Compressor Co., Ltd. (referred to as “Shinko Wuxi”) for the project’s key unit—the polypropylene unit—was tested successfully on its first attempt! All operational parameters of the unit meet the design requirements, and its overall operation is stable and reliable, which has acted as a catalyst to accelerate the overall construction progress of the project. To meet the high sealing requirements of the polypropylene process, the unit employs a series dry gas seal technology. This technology not only effectively prevents the leakage of process gases but also stops external impurities from entering the equipment, thereby enhancing the safety of equipment operation and the reliability of long-term operation, and laying a solid foundation for the stable operation of the project’s facilities. This project is another example of the close cooperation between the two parties, following the successful completion of Phase 1. The smooth progress of this project is attributable not only to the strong trust between the two parties, but also to the client’s high appreciation for the quality of Shinsteel Wuxi’s products and its professional services. In large-scale ethylene projects, the recycle gas compressor, as the core equipment of the polypropylene plant, plays a crucial role in supplying a stable and sufficient supply of process gas for the polymerization reaction cycle. Its performance directly affects the production efficiency, product quality, and energy consumption levels of a project. The test unit used this time is a DH-type single-pole cantilever centrifugal compressor. Thanks to its compact structure and stable, reliable operation, this model is employed in process packages for various applications related to PP, PE, EO, and PDH systems.
