But which standard do you use to determine the operating temperature for shaped products made of Q235 material? It is generally difficult to find Q345 steel sections with small cross-sections
It is precisely because of the temperature limits for Q235 material that when the operating temperature of hot-rolled sections exceeds these limits, Q345 is generally used in design. However, here lies the problem: for sections with small cross-sections, such as angle irons of type 63, channel steels of type 10, and I-beams of type 16, it is often difficult to find Q345 versions of these sections
This is designed for the medium inside the pipeline; it is used for external support or independent steel structures, and there are no such restrictions. If it comes into contact with pipes and equipment, the outer surface has an insulating layer, so the material does not reach that temperature
That’s not the key point. For some high-temperature equipment or pipes with a rectangular cross-section, it is necessary to install steel profiles on the surface of the steel plate as reinforcement bars in order to increase stiffness. There are standards for this approach; therefore, it’s not accurate to assume that steel profiles are only used in civil engineering structures. It is also used in other equipment fields.
I’m not from the equipment field; I didn’t expect that. It’s best to check GB150 to see if there are any requirements; if so, then it cannot be used
This post was last edited by Zhan Yao Chu Mo on 2017-2-8 at 08:36. There are regulations regarding the operating temperature for Q235 series steel in GB50341 storage tanks; you may refer to them. If it is to be used in a structural application, consult someone who specializes in steel structures!
Obviously, this of mine is not meant for use with steel structures, as the temperature in such structures generally does not exceed 150 degrees
GB150 does not contain any provisions regarding section steel
