I would like to ask the experts: can a standard elliptical head for DN4000 be formed by stamping from a single sheet of metal? The nominal thickness of the head is 10 mm, with material S30408.

What are you thinking? Even steel mills can’t produce plates that large.
It’s really tough for the steel mills; the standards specify that the maximum width can be 4800 mm, but production definitely requires special handling. However, for a head of 4000 mm, the unfolded diameter must be higher than 4800 mm to ensure the correct forming dimensions. This requirement is completely absurd.
It’s the same as the whole plate after welding inspection – does that user have such high requirements? It’s estimated to cost an exorbitant amount, including plate rolling and transportation costs.
Two steel plates can be joined together and then spun into shape.
Try not to spin-form stainless steel; it looks terrible after shaping, with all those ridges. If spinning forming is necessary, it is recommended to carry out sandblasting after the forming process.
