I would like to ask fellow sailors: can propane be stored in liquefied gas cylinders? What is the basis for this?
1. Compared with commonly used cylindrical containers, spherical tanks have the following characteristics: (1) Spherical tanks have the smallest surface area, meaning that less steel is required for a spherical tank of the same capacity. (2) The load-bearing capacity of the shell plates of spherical tanks is twice that of cylindrical vessels; that is, at the same diameter and under the same pressure, using the same type of steel sheet, the plate thickness required for a spherical tank is only half that of a cylindrical vessel. (3) Sphere tanks require less floor space and can be built to greater heights, which facilitates the efficient use of land area. (4) The spherical tank foundation is simple, with a small wind-exposed area. 2. Given these characteristics, spherical tanks are often used to store liquefied petroleum gas (propylene is also a type of liquefied petroleum gas), ammonia, gas, oxygen, nitrogen, and so on.
It’s better to have a designer do the calculations; different parameters may be chosen during the design process, so calculations will help us get a clearer idea. According to the major safety regulations, any change in the medium should be treated as a modification, so it’s better to be cautious·······

Check whether the design pressure of the liquefied gas tank meets the requirements.
Isn’t propane part of liquefied gas? Why not? But when storing it, attention should be paid to the setting pressure of the safety valve... avoid overpressure
Propane is one of the common types of liquefied petroleum gas; when large quantities are involved, the use of spherical tanks is quite common.
