Currently, acid and alkali chemicals are widely used in the fields of environmental protection and chemical manufacturing. However, they are hazardous chemicals, and there are certain risks associated with their transportation, storage, and use. Furthermore, adding chemicals to water bodies increases the salt content in the water, which can cause the salt level in wastewater to exceed the allowable limits, and this is also detrimental to achieving zero discharge of industrial wastewater. To address this, our team has developed a new in-situ acid-base generator that directly converts water into acid-base (pH range of 2–12) solutions. It has no special requirements regarding the quality of the incoming water, does not require any pre-treatment units, makes no use of chemicals or consumables, does not need to be cleaned, and generates no waste liquids or solids.
