As shown in the figure, the type A tube sheet has a step in its structure; the thickness at the sealing surface is 65 mm, while the thickness at other locations is 70 mm. The minimum thickness calculated according to GB/T151 is 68 mm. Without taking into account any corrosion margin, can this tube sheet meet the requirements? In other words, when calculating the thickness of the tube sheet, should it be based on the thickness of 65 mm at the sealing surface, or on the thickness of 70 mm in the middle? I wonder if anyone knows which standard or document mentions regulations on this matter?
This post was last edited by *AOL_1 on 2017-10-10 at 14:13. A-shaped tube sheets are generally used in U-tubes, floating heads, and packing box tube sheets; isn’t there a partition groove in the center of the tube sheet?
This situation does exist; I’m not sure if you’ve come across floating-head heat exchangers with a single pass
My understanding is that the thickness of the tube sheet in the middle is 70 mm, and the thinned areas around it are considered as structural grooves; thus, without taking corrosion into account, the nominal thickness of the tube sheet is 65 mm. Since my understanding differs from that of my colleagues, I’m not sure if this interpretation is correct, which is why I’m posting this to see if anyone has conducted in-depth research on this topic
