When designing heat exchangers, it sometimes happens that the thickness of the cylinder required for the equipment flanges is greater than the thickness of the cylinder as designed; in such cases, the flanges can be modified according to the revision table provided. Does the δ1 thickness of the flanges change after this modification? Also, the revision table only provides the thickness of the docking cylinder and the total height of the flange. So, if the total height changes, does this change occur in the value of small h or in the length of the straight docking section?

The δ1 thickness of the revised flange remains unchanged, while the total height changes depending on the length of the butted straight section.
There is actually a difference between the flanges specified in GB150.3 and those for equipment flanges according to the NB standard. If a non-standard design is used, at this point there is only the thickness of the small end of the flange neck, with no length for the straight edge; in such a case, g0 should have the same value as that of the cylinder body. However, standard flanges (NB) are used; in this case, the thickness of the narrow end of the flange neck and the thickness of the equipment cylinder are two different values. The NB standard permits the thickness of the equipment cylinder to be less than the thickness of the flange’s straight edges, with the minimum value specified in the revision table. Note that what is being revised at this time is the total length of the flange and the thickness of the butt joint cylinder. It has nothing to do with the thickness of the small end of the flange neck. At this point, you can understand it this way: increasing the length of the flange’s straight edges is a way to compensate for the length required for trimming due to the thickness difference.

We also don’t quite understand the standard requirements; there are many different interpretations, so we used SW6 to carry out the calculations again based on those standards.
