In skid-mounted equipment, manifolds are often encountered; these manifolds have numerous nozzles arranged closely together, which can easily result in a situation where the distance between the centers of two nozzles is less than the sum of their diameters. In this particular manifold design, for example, the distance between the centers of the N2 and N3 nozzles is only 100 mm. This differs from requirement 6.4.1 of GB150.3 regarding joint reinforcement structures, as the two nozzles are not located on the same side. However, there is significant weakening on both sides of the housing. When performing strength calculations, N2 and N3 are considered together for joint reinforcement calculations; the SW6 software does not carry out such calculations and gives an error message. According to GB150, the total area required for joint reinforcement must be no less than the sum of the areas required for reinforcement of N2 and N3 separately. So, how should the total area for joint reinforcement be calculated manually?
I misunderstood; it should be on the same side. If the distance on the same side is less than the sum of the diameters of the two openings, how should the total area for combined reinforcement be calculated?
If these two tubes are at 180 degrees, it’s not necessarily the case that the distance is insufficient
It would be sufficient to understand clause 6.4.1a) in GB/T150.3. 1. The total area for combined reinforcement shall be no less than the sum of the areas required for reinforcement of each hole individually. 2. The reinforcement area between two holes shall be no less than half of the total required area. 3. No section shall be counted twice. 4. When multiple openings on the same line require combined reinforcement, the calculations shall be carried out sequentially.
Is the area between the two holes not less than the total area of the combined reinforcement?
