Our company has a 3T gas boiler; an water softening system was installed originally, but now we use purified water (from pipes coming from the workshop, with excellent water quality and very low conductivity), so scale does not form. The boiler manufacturer has been asking us to buy a certain type of chemical to be added to the water supply tank in specific proportions, otherwise it will have an impact on the boiler. The problem is that the potions are too expensive. The manufacturer says that the inner wall of the boiler becomes thinner as it is used more often; this solution forms a protective layer on the inner wall of the boiler and also helps to remove oxygen. Our company does not have a deaeration device. I would like to ask my colleagues whether to continue adding this chemical solution. If not, could it have an impact on the boiler? And if a deoxidization device is installed, is it still necessary to add this chemical solution?
You don’t currently have any oxygen removal system, so it makes sense for the manufacturer to recommend adding chemicals to the furnace to remove oxygen and prevent oxygen-induced corrosion. You could also install a sponge iron deoxidizer; actually, these chemicals don’t have to be purchased from the manufacturer either – there are many suppliers, both domestic and imported, with a wide range of options available
Whether it is treatment with deaeration equipment or chemical dosing inside the boiler, the water quality standards should meet national requirements. (Pass-through boilers must use external water treatment!) It is generally believed that when the pH level of the boiler water is kept within a certain range (10–12, slightly alkaline), an oxide film forms on the metal surface, thereby preventing corrosion. Experience suggests that when the conductivity is less than 1500 μs/cm, the water quality is stable and scaling is less likely to occur.

GBT1576-2008 \"Water Quality for Industrial Boilers\": Boilers with a capacity of 3 t/h do not require deoxidization; and even if deoxidization is necessary, the sodium sulfite used for this purpose is not expensive.

I’ve learned something. The conductivity of the water resulting from combining the purified water and the condensed water recovery water is around 11 μS/cm, which indicates that the water quality is satisfactory. Is it incorrect what you said about the conductivity being less than 1500 μs/cm? My tap water has a conductivity of 1200 μs/cm, which indicates that it is quite dirty; water softening is necessary, and the boiler’s automatic drain function operates frequently. If I adjust the quality of the purified water to be slightly alkaline, would I then not need to remove oxygen from it?
