I would like to ask: according to the Code for Fire Protection Design of Buildings, clause 4.3.1, item 5 states that \"there is no requirement for a fire separation distance between combustible gas storage tanks with a volume of no more than 20 m3 and the buildings in which they are used.\" ” Does the volume mentioned here refer to the total volume in Table 4.3.1 or the geometric volume? It should be the total volume; once pressure is applied, the spacing requirements specified in the table should be followed.
If the tank’s nameplate indicates a total volume of 10 m³ and a design pressure of 1.75 Mpa, then due to the presence of pressure, calculations must be carried out in accordance with the notes in Table 4.3.1, and the fire separation requirements must also be met?
Table 4.3.1 Note: The total volume of a fixed-volume combustible gas storage tank is calculated as the product of the tank’s geometric volume (in m3) and the design storage pressure (absolute pressure, 100000 Pa). In other words, the unit of pressure is 100,000 Pa (the exponent cannot be displayed here, so it has to be expressed this way). According to what you said, the total volume of this tank should be 10 x 1.75 x 1,000,000 Pa = 175 m3; since this value is greater than 20 m3, the spacing specified in the table should be applied.
